DHA是一种必需脂肪酸,其在神经组织中属最丰富的ω-3脂肪酸,特别是在视网膜和大脑。 DHA构成高达40%的视网膜和神经细胞膜的多不饱和脂肪酸总量池。使用鱼油DHA膳食补充剂,可抑制动脉粥样硬化和延误光感受器变性的视网膜色素变性的进度。新生儿的DHA不足会导致发育缺陷,大鼠DHA不足可能导致高血压。
